In 1993, Silver Lakes Golf Estate is one of the first courses built by Peter Matkovich and Dale Hayes. Silver Lakes derives its name from the numerous lakes around the golf course. The 18-hole, Par 72, Silver Lakes Golf Course is one of the finest top 10 most Eco-Friendly golf courses in the world, according to Golfscape. This golf course, in our Highveld Hub, was built on a flood plain that required the construction of many ponds, dams, and streams to manage water around the majority of the holes. Be prepared to lose a few balls on the way round here as it is nearly impossible to stay dry all the way through the round of golf. The club hosted the South African Armature championship for the first time in 2015.

The golf course takes full advantage of the abundance of water and the river running through the Estate. Water comes into play on 11 of the 18 holes. The island fairway on the Par 5, 14^th, double fairway on the 8^th, as well as excellent finishing holes on the 9^th and 18^th greens that share an island surrounded by palm trees, ensure a memorable and pleasant round of golf.

The 3^rd hole is a Par 3, played to a green that is protected by a large bunker dotted with cacti and rocks. On the back nine, the 14^th, Par 5 is a real feature hole, with water in play all the way down the right of the narrow fairway from tee to green. Both loops of nine end with holes that are played to an island green, so be prepared for a possible watery end to the first and second half of the game.
