OVERVIEW

This golf course was designed by Gary Player’s company and is located only 4km from the small town of Plettenberg Bay. The Goose Valley Golf Club lies within the heart of the famous Garden Route in South Africa.

Gary Player expanded the old 9-hole course at Goose Valley into a full 18-hole course in 2003 and quickly became known as a great quality golf course, reaching number 52 in the “Golf Digest rankings of the top 100 courses in 2005”. In 2006, the course moved up into the ranks of the top 50. The golf course lies next to the Turtle Creek Golf Estate, overlooking the Keurbooms River at the point where it flows into the lagoon before entering the Indian Ocean.

The course is part of a housing estate, and enjoys views of the ocean, the Keurbooms Lagoon, and the impressive Tsitsikamma Mountains. Goose Valley golf club has hosted the South African Amateur Championships. While playing this golf course, you have the sound and tranquillity of the ocean on a few of the holes.

Some of the stand-out holes on the front nine include the two Par 3’s at the 2nd and 5th and the back-to-back Par 5’s at holes 7 and 8. On the back nine, the most challenging hole on the card is the 10th and it precedes the signature 11th hole, Par 3, where the green is guarded by a handful of bunkers. The 11th, Par 3, with its scenic backdrop, must rank among the most attractive short holes in the Garden Route region.

The golfing experience is enhanced by the beauty of the natural fynbos and the abundance of animal and birdlife on and around the golf course.  Play this incredibly breathtaking course on your next luxury golf tour holiday.
