OVERVIEW

The historic George Golf Course, which was established in 1906, is one of the top fifteen golf courses in South Africa and provides the ideal parkland golfing experience with the majestic Outeniqua mountains in the background. George Golf Course, situated in the Garden Route hub, is the ideal golfing experience, perfect for any skill level of golfer.

Fun Fact: In 1940 The Second World War brought a new type of membership to the George Golf Club. The 61st Squadron of the Royal Air Force was stationed at George and all the officers, whether they played golf or not, became honorary members. They added to the spice and life at the club and provided one of the earliest aerial photographs of the course.

The nines inward and outward at George are a little lopsided with only one par three and one par five on the outward half and three of each on the inward nine.

The first tee is a dogleg left with a water hazard on the left. Keep to the middle and you will have a good approach shot onto the green.

The signature feature on the 4th short par 4, is the bunkers on the left and right sides of the fairway these bunkers are in play for most golfers.

The 17th par 3 has always been regarded as one of the best Par 3’s on the course, which is no wonder why it is the signature hole. It is a long par 3 with bush right and left of the fairway and green. Almost surrounded by bunkers a par here is especially rewarding.
