Atlantic Beach Links golf course, north of Cape Town, is situated 700 meters from the beach in Melkbosstrand (Milk bush beach), named after the shrubbery that grows in the seaside dunes.

Architect Mark Muller and contractor Golf Data designed and constructed these 18 hole golf course in an anticlockwise loop of nine taking great care to protect the fynbos, indigenous to South Africa. Offering iconic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain, the golf course winds its way through undulating dunes, with fairways and greens emphasised by natural, locally occurring fynbos.

The respective nines have recently been switched so that the 1^st tee, Par 4 is not in front of the clubhouse with the opening holes playing towards Table Mountain.

Hole 6 is known as the “Dwarf Thicket” which is a Par 5 slight dogleg to the right. The green is curvy which leads the golfer to think carefully and clearly with the approach shot.

The signature hole is the 13^th, Par 5 “Lion’s Head”. This dogleg left is laid out almost as if the rest of the course was designed around it. With the Milkwood trees to the right of the fairway the tee shot is blind and the third shot, if level with the fairway bunker, is a steep hill.
